American Disposal Rates

August 18, 2016 at 5:50 pm
Canterbury Woods Residents,

We apologize for the delay in getting the trash disposal rates with American Disposal Services (ADS) negotiated for this year.  The community representatives that we were working with had to get the CW rates approved through the appropriate personnel before committing to the new rates, and some of those personnel were on vacation.

The rates and services that we have negotiated are a 40% savings over the standard customer rate.  You may already have a better rate than the standard rate, so your savings may not be as much as 40%, but it is unlikely that you have a better rate than what we negotiated especially since it includes bulk trash pickup.  In order to obtain the negotiated rate, you have to have paid your $30 CWCA dues this year. You can pay online through PayPal or drop off a personal check to Susan DiMaina at 5001 Chanticleer Avenue.

To pay your dues through PayPal, open your web browser and go to the following internet address (  Click on the PayPal link located in the upper right corner of the CWCA website and follow the instructions.

Once you have paid your dues you can contact Adam Strickland at  or to obtain your personalized savings code.  Please use “CWCA Disposal Rates” in the subject line, and include your name, address, and telephone number that you can be contacted at within the body of the e-mail.  Adam will respond to your e-mail and generate your code.

Once you have the code, you can call a customer service representative at ADS at (866-884-8700) and give them the code to obtain the negotiated rate.  You have to mention that you are a member of Canterbury Woods.  The negotiated rate will be good for one year.  In addition to the once a week or bi-weekly pickup, we will get a free bulk trash pickup day.  The bulk trash pickup day will be announced at a later date by the CWCA board and this service will only be available to CWCA dues paying members.  This service alone will save you at least $50.00 if you had to take trash to the dump by yourself.  Thank you for your patience and we look forward to providing more services to benefit CW residents.

Thank you,

CWCA Board

VDOT Paving Information

July 15, 2016 at 2:35 pm

As you have noticed, a VDOT contractor is currently paving all streets in our neighborhood.  The completion date for our area is December 2nd.  Some more FAQ’s are listed below:

When will work begin on my street?

Exact work dates are available about ten days prior to work beginning, as contractors set schedules based on personnel and equipment availability. Giving contractors this flexibility allows Virginia to secure paving work at a competitive price. In subdivisions, “no parking” signs with precise date information will be posted at least three business days prior to work starting.

What will happen? What will residents see, hear and observe?

Residents can expect work vehicles in their neighborhood during the project. Motorists are asked to be alert to temporary traffic patterns. We may ask that you temporarily relocate parked vehicles, basketball hoops, or garbage cans while work is under way. Contractors are required to post “no parking” signs at least three business days prior along roads where on-street parking will be prohibited during paving work.

What are the work hours of this project?

Work hours are usually limited to outside of rush hours. Crews typically work in residential areas on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Congratulations to Lisa Warden, the new CWCA treasurer, elected May 11, at the Annual Meeting. We also welcome Andrew Gay and Steve Lloyd as the co-chairs of the Architectural Control committee. A new position has been formed to help with publicity — our Social Media specialist is now Diane Strickland.
